What I learned from 35 days of vlogging
One of the questions I wanted to ask myself was, “do I live survival, bushcraft and prepping daily?”.
Recently I spent 35 days uploading a video to my YouTube channel every day. It may not sound difficult but it definitely was a chore. Some days it was easier than others, but some day I really had to push myself. When you say “yes” to one thing, you say “no” to something else, relationships, business or even health may suffer. As a result the content suffered (amongst other things) compared to my normal video quality and wasn’t a good as it normally was but that’s to be expected. I wan’t to push myself with this endeavor as long as I could keep it relevant to survival, bushcraft and prepping.
The take away…
One of the questions I wanted to ask myself was, “do I live survival, bushcraft and prepping daily?”. YES, I believe I do. Every day I find something related to these three topics, but not every day was video worthy and that’s why I stopped after thirty-five episodes. Once I reached the point of not having video worthy content I decided I had gone as far as I could go.
If I’m not practicing one of these three skills (or sometimes all three), I’m reading about it, watching videos and movies about it, or writing about it. That let me know how serious I was about UglyTent and it’s future. It opened my eyes to the possibilities and potential of growing the UglyTent brand.
Also I learned a lot about the video and editing process itself. There is a time for editing and there is a time to share content. I have gotten so much faster at the entire process and have a much better understanding of balancing the two. Sometimes quantity beats quality, especially in this day and age.
The last and probably the most important thing I learned was that this method could be applied to anything else I do. I’ve always heard it takes 20 days to break or form a habit, and those past thirty-five days reenforced that theory. This may not be as effective for others, but for me it worked. With that being said I plan on immersing myself in future projects and ventures everyday for thirty days.
I’m truly excited to tackle more this year with UglyTent, my newest venture “Breathing with Kenny” and being a better version of me. Thank you for all the support and encouragement this years so far, it has been a blessing.
